I saw a TV advert for the remastered Red/Blue albums last night. I think they'll sell well – they're the perfect Christmas gift for people just getting into The Beatles.

It's true that EMI is broke, and run by an odious man, but I think this is an Apple initiative. Look at what they're doing: Beatles remasters, John Lennon reissues, Band On The Run, much of the non-Beatles back catalogue of Apple Records (Mary Hopkin, Badfinger etc), probably George and Ringo to follow (I'm guessing). We're in the midst of a massive Beatles ...

I can't believe that the newly-remastered 1962-1966 will STILL be a 2-CD set - totalling 63 minutes!

EMI truly has no shame. I'm glad I have absolutely no reason to buy this.

>>>>> (I mean, a 2-CD set which included the entire contents in both mono and stereo versions would be legitimately useful, and much less of a ripoff.)

Right you are! But, hey, gotta pay those real estate taxes on Abbey Road Studios, ya' know.....*laughs!* (kind of....)

So apparently they're remastering the Red and Blue albums, and they'll be released this October. But the burning question is, "Why?". Any opinions on this? I know Apple wants to release something for the holiday season (I guess they're not satisfied with just releasing a bunch of other albums from their catologue), but there are so many other things they should do before this. Let It Be and Magical Mystery Tour on DVD, anyone? Maybe a remastered Anthology set. Or even remastered Live At the BBC. After all of those things are released, then they should remaster Red ...
