Good news. And it's a nice blog too – I've come across it a few times in the past.

It's an unfortunate title though. I know he posts as Wogew (his real name's Roger), hence WogBlog, but I presume wog isn't known as a racist term in Norway.

Dragged up from the past.

The main reason being that i heard the Spector Across The Universe mix thing at its original speed, ie not slowed down to the dirge that it is, and its a really nice version. There is this violin sound that keeps appearing and its lovely and John sounds like he's making some effort. So much better than spectors as its actually listenable. The lyrics are beautiful, just a shame that the two most knownversions (on Past Masters and Let It Be) and the two worst mixes of the song.

As for the Let It Be movie, there are hard scenes to see as John and George are obviously uninterested in Maxwell's Silver Hammer and at times Ringo, John and George looks like they are wondering why on earth they are there. Paul does come across so bossy at times to the others as he tries to make something happen yet at times looks so annoyed himself and disinterested in whatever George is playing.

However the oldies jam is a joy as finally they look like they are enjoying themselves, for once. Seeing George and Ringo work on Octocpus's Garden is a delight as is Paul and John singing the fast version of Two of Us. And the rooftop concert is without doubt the highlight of the film. Even George is enjoying playing live.

Its not as miserable as its now believed to be and deserves to be seen and available to buy. Its idiotic that you cant go and buy an official copy. Maybe it now not being available in full on youtube is a step forward in it finally getting re-released, but i doubt it.

If you scroll down to near the bottom of this page (just above the 'offically released released material from the 'Get Back sessions' section) you will find a picture (red background) of the Let It Be box, as released in 1970. By clicking the picture you'll open a PDF file of the Get Back book. You can also save it to your computer by right clicking on the picture and selecting the 'save target as..' option in the menu.

(Didnt know where to post this but it doesnt deserve its own thread and since it was released with the original Let It Be movie seems most appropriate.)

Thanks so much for sharing this. I've got a copy of the book but rarely read it as I'm fearful of it falling apart. The pdf is really useful to have.

I actually heard Let It Be…Naked before I listened to the original version! I'd been reading up on it and heard that was how it was originally planned so I saw it in a used cd store and bought it (but it is now lost…I let a friend borrow it and well…..)

So I prefer that one. I think 'Across the Universe' on Naked is FAR superior. I will listen to the Spector version but the Naked version really hits home. It's such a sad song to me.

"I Got A Feeling" is one of my favorite Beatles songs. That opening riff gets me everytime and I'm glad I got to see McCartney do that one live! I also prefer the Naked version but I've gotten used to the album version. 'One After 909' is another favorite!

I like the Spector version of 'I Me Mine' however. I think that's the only song the strings helped. 'Let It Be' is amazing of course but I'm not a fan of 'The Long and Winding Road' in either form. It's just a bit….I dunno….boring. Plus I think Paul sounds awful on Spector version and I wonder why he chose that take to release. 'Two of Us' is awesome, as well as 'Get Back'.

Am I the only one who really loves 'Dig A Pony'? That song is awesome times 50. The album has some reeally good songs on it but it feels different.

I actually watched the film on Youtube about a year ago. I just looked about a week ago and it seems to be down now :( You could cut the tension with a knife and I remember seeing them perform 'Two of Us' later in the film and thinking wow. That one shot really showed it all but I think it humanized them.

Try to realize it's all within yourself, no one else can make you change....

I think let it be would have been a really awesome album if george martin had produced it. I mean listen to the single versions of don't let me down, get back and let it be, they're amazing. Naked is good as well, but some strings like on the single let it be version are fine, i just don't liked that spector took so much strings and mixed them so loudly. But at least spector was better than johns, he tried at least to make a real album, without errors. And if martin had produced it, it would have sounded like abbey road i think. Because 12 of the abbey road songs were originally played during the let it be sessions, so they must have thought that the let it be songs were better (anyway i've always thought that oh! darling is much better than most let it be songs, i wonder why they didn't play it at the rooftop concert). And one thing i've never understood too, spector did use many rooftop tracks, why didn't he use the rooftop track of get back which we can hear and see on the anthology dvds (the version of anthology 3 is worse i think). It's, i think, even better than the take spector used. What do you think, would let it be be better than abbey road if it were recorded in the abbey road studios with multi-tracking and produced by george martin?

Does anyone know what exactly John sings after "oh danny boy", i cant make it out and whats quote after a quick search online doesnt fit? Its not "the pipes, the pipes are calling" as often said to be the case, and is obviously a Lennon twist.

Isn't it written somewhere on the lyrics web sites? Anyway I never heard whole Let it be naked version of the album, beside Across the Universe which is slightly better than the album version. Let it be song on album version is great, especially George's solo, while the riff on the video is pretty weak (I guess that's naked version one).

Living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see.

It sounds like "Oh Danny Boy, the altar pan are calling." Don't really know. Typical Lennonistic nonsense :)

I love it personally, I remember how enthralling it was on first viewing. The most agonising scene for me, though, was that single shot which lasts about five minutes of the back of Paul's head, and he's talking to John about the future of the band and John's just sitting there smoking a cigarette and looking at him with disinterest and never says a single reply.
