OfflineI guess I am bringing this thread back for my post, but I just really wanted to tell you! I have aquired 4 records during the time I was gone. Here they are in sections, by artist:
The Beatles: Let it Be
John Lennon: Rock N' Roll, Walls And Bridges
Paul McCartney & the Wings: Red Rose Speedway
I am so excited to finally have my own records, and hopefully get a collection.
Now all I need is a record player…..

OfflineOh, aren't records fantastic? I started collecting them maybe about a year ago, and they're just so nice… There's something sort of surreal about the cover art being so large, after being so used to seeing it tiny on an iPod or a CD cover.
Not to mention playing them is really quite fun, but you haven't got to that quite yet

OfflineThis should maybe go in the Beatle Dreams thread, but I had a dream the night before last that I bought a record player and four Beatle solo albums. And it was all for around $100. Even Dream Me was like, “Wow, this is a great deal!”
Sigh … Only a dream.
I still need a record player.

OfflineIf someone were to just see my vinyl collection, they would think I have something against John. I have 8 McCartney albums (two of which I stole from my dad), 4 Harrison (and 1 Traveling Wilburys), 1 John (Double Fantasy) and 1 Ringo (Goodnight Vienna). I also have Rock and Roll, The Red and Blue albums, and assorted other vinyls. God I love vinyl.

OfflineMy record collection is quite similar, although I don't have any George either… Which McCartney albums do you have? I've got Ram, Band on the Run, London Town, Back to the Egg and Tug of War. And, might I add, I am so close to having all of the Beatles studio albums… I'm only missing WTB, BFS and Yellow Submarine.
I'm very proud.

OfflineYeah, Hey Jude (aka The Beatles Again, according to the label!) was a genuinely useful release when it came out. It wasn't really a Capitol butcher job; none of its songs except "Can't Buy Me Love" were taken from any of the UK albums. (Of course, "The Inner Light" should've logically been included, but I guess Capitol had to screw up in at least one way.)

I guess it does have a use. Although TIL should have been included. (Welcome back, btw).

Thank you! Nice to be back (but nicer still if I was still on holidays!)
May I ask where you went? (Somewhere in Canada I presume?) But glad to see the apples back on the left.

OfflineI'll say it like Jon Stewart: Go Fuck Yourself. Just kidding, that's great. I still remember getting that one myself. But, I know what Jon Stewart would say here, that wise man, and I will echo his intelligence: Go Fuck Yourself. I'm kidding, don't worry. (Sorry, but that's the product of two hours of YouTube videos of American comedians.)

OfflineOkay, so today was a good day for me. While at a record shop in Ottawa, I got 3 records. Paul's Back To The Egg and Press To Play, a Names Taylor record, and, most awesomely, the White Album. Oh Ya.
