Peppers. I just wanted to own at least one physical album. I have a few on vinyl, but no CD's until today. I think I will buy one every month and eventually I will have them all, ...

Every so often I like to encourage those who purchase music (or anything for that matter) via Amazon to do so from a link on this site. If you go from this site to Amazon, a small part of your purchase price will go back to the site. Joe uses this stipend to keep the site running (server fees, etc..) and to pay my commissions (just kidding!!).

Those who have been here for any considerable amount of time are already aware of this, so I just bring it up when we get a lot of new members to the Forum.

I have a small record collection which I have an original White Album and Let It Be, along with my other Beatles vinyl and vinyl collection. Why I am buying records? I like the sound, having a piece of history, ...

My music was no longer *special*. I was just consuming it without thinking about or appreciating it. It was becoming background music.

So I consciously made the decision to make it special again. almost everything is released on vinyl now, so I buy that whenever I can. I sample my music on the internet, and if ...

I'm more than a little concerned about the whole "music is free" path we seem to be pursuing. In the simplist terms, if the musician can't get paid for his art, if he can't feed his family from the fruits of his labor, he's gonna stop making music and move on to something that pays the bills.

I'm assuming that our OP is younger and probably under 20 at that. Since I'm much older, my answer is naturally that a physical copy sounds better and is simply a more interesting and immersive experience. The simple fact that you can hold the artwork, photos and liner notes as a physical entity gives the music actual *value*.

Watching it on Youtube is like watching a movie on your phone. Sure it gets the job done, but it's not how it was supposed to be experienced and cheapens the overall work.

Usually i'll buy the cds but not at full price unless its the Beatles, if an album is heavily reduced for download at amazon i might go for that tho i end up finding it on cd used so i upgrade. I was given vouchers for itunes so bought a couple of albums and odd songs here and there filling in gaps.

I had to buy the 2 exclusive Love tracks from itunes, thats the only time ive been locked in with no other option. Damn Apples.

I don't think the (alive) Beatles get any benefit from the stuff you buy. Vinyl are a definitely must buy though, pure unadulterated quality, unlike the stuff you get from the internet which usually are in low quality. I believe the Beatles Apple USB (24bit 96khz) is a convenient product to buy because it's more portable, and most players come with USB now, not sure if they could play FLAC though.
