You know, I feel like a dingbat for not ever noticing Paul was barefoot in the Abbey Road cover! When I did, I immediatley researched on the internet why he was barefoot. On this one site it said that on that day it was blazing hot, so Paul decided to take off his sandals. I am such an idiot for not noticing…

Then you should check this thread out: Abbey Road Cover. Cool

After reading that thread, I feel like a really BIG idiot now. There were a lot of things in the Abbey Road cover that I didn’t notice, besides Paul’s barefeet….

What I never understood about the “it was hot, so I took off my sandals” thing is… isn’t it more uncomfortable to walk on hot pavement than to wear sandals on an 86º day?!

I don’t think it ever gets that hot in England that you couldn’t walk around barefooted although i wouldn’t recommend it. haha.  I don’t know what it was like in St Johns Wood back in 1969 but i know i wouldn’t be taking my shoes off and walking across a zebra crossing in modern day England, too many things you could stand on!  Paul must be made of harder stuff!  a-hard-days-night-paul-3

Onward my friends, and glory for the thirty ninth!!

“Mad dogs & Englishmen…”

Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

Indeed – the thought of it is frightening!

86 Fahrenheit – that’s about 30 degrees Celsius, isn’t it? That’s nothing. Here in Brisbane, Australia it’s regularly over 30 in summer, occasionally over 40.

But, of course, everyone knows that because Paul wasn’t wearing shoes, it means he’s dead… obviously…

86 degrees: lol, it was like 113 last summer…omg, I hate California…

And the fact that he wasn't wearing shoes because it was hot…I'm the same way. The shoes just irritate me, you know?

Same here in Texas, blazing hot summers. I don’t know if I would walk around outside barefoot though, your feet might just melt on the pavement. I can’t wait for summer. 😐

My mind is far away, off in Pepperland…

Ok if its 86° outside, why are they wearing suits? George is wearing heavy denim. Paul, Ringo, and John are wearing jackets and pants. Wouldn't you want to wear more comfortable clothing like a short sleeve shirt? I think the no shoe thing was intentional for his “he is dead” rumors.

They were wearing suits because they had to look good for the cover.

I don't think it was for the Paul is dead theory. I think it was Paul and his ego a-hard-days-night-paul-5

I don't think he liked the whole Paul is dead thing, at the beginning at least… People always play with it, like when he was on SNL (which is the best skit ever), and I think that he might have just done it to look different too. I mean, who wears sandals to a photo shoot?

But I feel like if you can look good in a puffy shirt in a photo shoot, you can look good in a short sleeved shirt. For all we know Paul did take his shoes off to mess with us or he was to high to realize no shoes on hot pavement isn't clean nor smart.
