Rehearsal: Around The Beatles

This was the second day of rehearsal for the ITV show Around The Beatles, which was filmed three days later on 28 April 1964.

As with the previous rehearsal on 18 April, this one took place at the Hall of Remembrance, a 1920s parish hall in Chelsea, London. The building was often used as a rehearsal space by the television company Rediffusion, which made Around The Beatles for ITV.

Brian Epstein had negotiated a one-hour television special starring The Beatles, to be made by London-based ITV company Rediffusion. To be titled Around The Beatles, the show was filmed on 28 April 1964, but rehearsals and recording began on this day. Read more »

Rehearsal for The Ed Sullivan Show

In the morning a press conference was held in the Baroque Room at New York's Plaza Hotel, where The Beatles were staying. Following this John Lennon, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr went for a walk and photo opportunity in Central Park, where their every move was followed by around 400 female fans. Read more »

A busy day for The Beatles. In the afternoon they filmed a special edition of the BBC television show Juke Box Jury, before performing for 2,500 hometown fans. In the evening they played another two shows at the nearby Odeon Cinema. Read more »
