First official Beatles iPhone app is released

Apple Corps and Apple Inc have joined forces to release a new iTunes store app containing lyrics and guitar chords for more than 160 Beatles songs.

The Beatles: The Little Black Song Book for iPhone and iPod Touch also features 30 fully-licensed backing tracks for musicians to play along with, and several instructional videos.

This is the first officially endorsed Beatles material to be sold on iTunes, and marks perhaps the first breakthrough in the impasse between the two Apple companies which has left The Beatles’ music absent from the iTunes thus far.

The Little Black Song Book costs US$6.50/£3.99, and requires the iPhone 2.2.1 Software Update or later.
