Despite their perceived rivalry in the media, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones were good friends who often socialised together. On this evening George Harrison and Mick Jagger, along with Jagger’s girlfriend Chrissie Shrimpton, went to the nightclub Dolly’s in London.

US single release: Woman by Peter And Gordon

Over a month ahead of its UK release, Peter And Gordon’s single Woman was released in the United States. It was written by Paul McCartney, who used the pseudonym Bernard Webb.
