The scene in Help! in which an Asprey’s jeweller, played by Peter Copley, examines the ring stuck on Ringo Starr‘s finger, was filmed on this day at Twickenham Film Studios.
Afterwards the ‘attempt number one’ scene, in which a magnetised lift attracted all metal objects to the walls apart from the ring, was filmed. It starred just John Lennon and Ringo Starr.
The main part of the day, however, was taken up with the scene in which The Beatles record You’re Going To Lose That Girl. This was supposedly set in EMI Studios, but was filmed in Twickenham. The scene culminated with Starr’s fall into an underground store room, a sequence which was shot the previous day.
