Radio: From Us To You

The Beatles visited the BBC’s Paris Studio in London on this day to record a fourth appearance on the From Us To You show.

The programme was a Beatles-themed special which was broadcast on UK bank holidays. This two-hour edition was transmitted from 10am on Monday 3 August 1964 on the BBC Light Programme.

The Beatles performed eight songs: ‘Long Tall Sally’, ‘If I Fell’, ‘I’m Happy Just To Dance With You’, ‘Things We Said Today’, ‘I Should Have Known Better’, ‘Boys’, ‘Kansas City/Hey-Hey-Hey-Hey!’ and ‘A Hard Day’s Night’.

Long Tall Sally and Boys were performed here for the seventh and final time for BBC radio. Furthermore, two of the songs, I’m Happy Just To Dance With You and I Should Have Known Better, were played for the only time outside EMI Studios.

This edition opened and closed with a re-recorded performance of ‘From Me To You’ with amended lyrics. For its second play, John Lennon read out the programme credits.
