The Beatles receive their first silver disc

On this day The Beatles were awarded their first silver disc, for sales of more than 250,000 copies of their single ‘Please Please Me’.

The Beatles receive their first silver disc. With George Martin, 5 April 1963

During the presentation ceremony the group gave a private performance to record company executives at EMI House, central London.

Also present was The Beatles’ producer George Martin, pictured here with the group.
