Recording: PS I Love You, Love Me Do, Please Please Me

Studio Two, EMI Studios, Abbey Road Producer: Ron Richards Engineer: Norman Smith Following the session on 4 September, where The Beatles recorded How Do You Do It and Love Me Do, EMI hastily arranged for them to return to London for a third attempt to complete their debut single.

Live: Queen’s Hall, Widnes

This was the second of three Monday night performances at Queen’s Hall in Widnes, Lancashire. It was also The Beatles’ second visit to the town.

Live: Cavern Club, Liverpool (evening)

This was The Beatles’ 99th evening show at the Cavern Club. They were on a bill with Clinton Ford, a British singer who had recently enjoyed two top 30 successes in the singles chart.

Live: YMCA, Birkenhead

Although they performed in Birkenhead on a number of occasions, this was The Beatles’ only performance at the town’s YMCA building.

Live: Rialto Ballroom, Liverpool

This was the first of two performances by The Beatles at the Rialto Ballroom, which stood on Upper Parliament Street in Toxteth, Liverpool.

Studio Two/Three, EMI Studios, Abbey Road Producer: George Martin Engineer: Norman Smith Following The Beatles’ first session for EMI on 6 June 1962, they returned for a second attempt at recording their debut single. This was Ringo Starr‘s first recording session with the group.

Live: Queen’s Hall, Widnes

This was the first of three Monday night performances at Queen’s Hall in Widnes, Lancashire. It was the first time The Beatles had performed in the town.

Live: Cavern Club, Liverpool (evening)

The Beatles’ 97th evening show at the Cavern Club took place on this date. They topped a bill which also included Kingsize Taylor and the Dominoes, and the Zenith Six Jazz Band.

Live: Subscription Rooms, Stroud

This was The Beatles’ second of two performances at the Subscription Rooms, situated on George Street in Stroud, Gloucestershire.
