Stuart Sutcliffe is interviewed for a teaching diploma at Liverpool College of Art

Well aware that his talents for painting were greater than for music, Stuart Sutcliffe planned to take art teaching courses. He applied for an Art Teachers Diploma (ATD) course at Liverpool College of Art, and was interviewed on this day.

Sutcliffe was turned down for a place on the diploma course, and decided to enrol instead at the Hamburg College of Art. He began there in June 1961.
